5 Ways Exercise Helps Your Skin Shine

Did you know that exercise can do wonders for your skin?

Yep, when you work out regularly, your skin gets some cool perks!

Here are five ways that getting your sweat on can help you get that healthy, glowing skin we’re all striving for:

  1. Better blood flow: when you work out, your heart pumps more blood through your body, delivering all sorts of good stuff to your skin cells, like oxygen and nutrients, which help to keep your skin looking and feeling fabulous. Plus, all that blood flow helps to flush out toxins and waste, which can lead to clearer skin.

  2. Less stress: exercise is a natural stress-buster. When you get moving, your body releases endorphins, feel-good chemicals that help to reduce stress and anxiety. And, it’s no mystery that stress can wreak havoc on your health; it can do the same with your skin and cause eczema, acne, and psoriasis flares. So, by working out regularly, you're not only improving your mood but also giving your skin a break from all that stress.

  3. More collagen: collagen is a protein that gives your skin its elasticity and firmness. Yes, please, I’ll take more of that! Unfortunately, As you age, your body produces less of it. But don't fret – exercise can help boost collagen production, which means your skin will stay plump and youthful-looking for longer.

  4. Reduces inflammation: it can help reduce inflammation in the body, which is important because chronic inflammation has been linked to a range of skin problems, including acne, psoriasis, and rosacea.

  5. Improves sleep quality: exercise can improve the quality of your sleep, which is important for overall skin health as your body repairs and regenerates skin cells while you sleep.

But wait, there's more!

Exercise can also help to increase lymphatic circulation, which reduces puffiness and swelling…buh-bye pillow face. And, of course, sweating helps to flush out impurities from your skin, leaving you with a clean healthy glow.

So, put on your favorite workout gear and get moving! Whether it's walking, jogging, dancing, or my favorite, pilates, try to get at least 30 minutes of movement most days of the week, and your skin (and your whole body) will thank you.
