A Healthier Deodorant

A Healthier Deodorant

November 29, 2010 |  by  |  Products

There is a lot of convoluted information out there about antiperspirant and the dangers of aluminum. Aluminum has been linked to Alzheimers Disease and Breast Cancer, that is of course, disputed  by the powers that be. My take is, if there is even a slight chance it is a contributor to either of those, I’m steering clear.

I’ve tried quite a few natural deodorants, including the crystal, which really didn’t work for me. After wetting the rock and then rub, rub, rub, and rubbing some more, I had to find a quicker fix.  I started making my own a few years ago and it’s worked the best for me, not to mention it’s pretty cheap to make. The cons would have to be, it’s not the most convenient to travel with and you’re still going to sweat.

But think about it.  We’re supposed to sweat. Our skin is the body’s largest organ and sweating plays a big role in ridding ourselves of toxins. Using chemicals to block a natural process is kind of a strange concept.

Homemade Deodorant

I had just started using Crystal Essence Pomegranate spray, which I do like, when a friend turned me on to  Keeping Abreast Of It! by Simply Divine Botanicals. It’s great because it’s an easy spray, but just as important it’s made with ingredients that help to stimulate the lymphatic system.  I was very happy to see I had some samples included with my order.  Black Velvet Facial Cleanser, Pack Your Bags Eye Cream, and Creme de Rose moisturizer. I love them! As soon as I washed my face I had a wow! moment. I called my boyfriend in to feel and he said “it feels like velvet” and he had no idea the product was called Black Velvet. Pretty awesome testimonial. I will definitely be ordering more from them.

So, even if you’re not into making your own deodo, I really encourage you to get off the aluminum and find a healthier option.

  1. I was looking at the Simply Divine website. I’m assuming they don’t test on animals but would like to know for sure. thanks

  2. Hi Lynne,

I was pretty sure they didn’t test on animals being how clean their products are but I called just to be 100% sure and I’m happy to say, no they do not. You can never be too sure these days! I’m still loving their products – they seem to last and last. Thanks for the comment!
